About Marlowe
A small, independent magazine about slowing down.
Marlowe started in 2021 as a letter between four friends who were tired of reading in a hurry. It is now read by more than twelve thousand people, still written by the same four and still sent on Sunday mornings.
What we believe
Good writing takes time to make and time to read. We publish one long story a week, pay our contributors fairly and never sell your attention to advertisers. We would rather write one essay you remember than ten you scroll past.
What we write about
Rooms and buildings, craft and makers, slow trips, food that takes its time, and the small rituals that make a day feel longer. Our six topics are Culture, Design, Travel, Ideas, Food and Interviews.
Members
Most of Marlowe is free. Members get every story, the full archive and a monthly reading list, and they are the only reason Marlowe exists.
